Vision Statement

The Spinal Cord Injury Support Group (SCISG) is a 501(C) 3 not for profit organization providing our community with information, knowledge and support necessary to maintain and improve a healthy lifestyle for those persons with spinal cord injury or disabilities (SCI/D). The SCISG is in the process of fund raising to hopefully someday open a spinal cord injury resource center in Broward County, Florida. This center will have an indoor gymnasium providing members an opportunity to learn and play wheelchair sports (i.e. wheelchair tennis, wheelchair basketball, quad rugby, etc.) The resource center will contain recreational and exercise equipment so this population can feel comfortable in maintaining and improving a healthy lifestyle. Educational classes and speakers will have an opportunity to address issues specific to SCI/D. The building, bathrooms and all equipment will be ADA compliant. Community group meetings and outings will be scheduled as part of the SCISG resource centers curriculum. A designated pediatric center will offer children, their parents, siblings and caregivers a place to get together with others finding themselves in a similar situation. This area will be dedicated to providing information, education and improving the lives of children affected by SCI/D.

SCISG offers the following:

Persons with spinal cord injury and /or disabilities and their families, caregivers and friends a place to get together with others finding themselves in a similar situation.
Reflect the voice and concerns of persons with spinal cord injury and/or disabilities.
A place where comfort, emotional support and education regarding life with spinal cord injury and disabilities can be offered and obtained.

Social functions include the following: sponsored golf clinic and/or tournament, sky diving, sailing, bowling, scuba diving, etc. and to collaborate with other similar organizations on fund raising events such as car washes, yard sales, bake sales, craft fair, silent auctions, etc.
